Weapons in the Elder Scrolls have always felt like fantastic pieces of equipment, pretty unique to fit in most RPGs.
Okay, I'm level 5 now and I've already cleaned out the stronghold that has the Ice Blade of the Monarch and have killed a guy in full ebony armor, and the difficulty is set at 0. So now I'm pretty sure my character is doing good. The Ice Blade freezes all who feel its blade. The Blade circulates from owner to owner, never settling in one place for long. —Yagrum Bagarn, Tamrielic Lore. The Ice Blade of the Monarch is carried by Llaren Terano, who can be found in the arena of Rotheran, a stronghold south of Dagon Fel on the island of Sheogorad.
However Morrowind had some beauties mixed in there. And if you’re still playing the game then you’ll want to know where to get them.
So with this list I’ll cover all of that good stuff. Check below for my picks of the absolute best weapons in the game, along with where to find them.
15. Fork of Horripilation
How To Get: The Fork is given to you while completing Sheogorath’s Quest
Honestly, this is by far one of the most useless weapons in the game. Or so you’d think… but its real value is entertainment value.
Its main purpose is to make the player unable to cast spells. Which only serves a good purpose when completing the Mad God Sheogorath quest.
Its terrible base damage and the fact that this weapon is a fork made me add it to my list for sheer hilarity. There’s no other reason, honestly.
But also, isn’t that reason enough?
14. Daedric Axe (Enchanted)
How To Get: This weapon is found as random loot in containers and chests
The enchanted Daedric Axe takes a spot on my list for a variety of reasons.
I think the way it looks speaks for itself. It appears to be one of the strongest in the game just by staring at its vile-looking edges and its massive size.
However, the total power and its overall cost make it an even better weapon(by comparison).
With an enchantment total of 165 and a value of 50000 coins, the Enchanted Daedric Axe is absolutely worth hunting down.
13. Chrysamere
Ice Blade Of The Monarch Morrowind Game
How To Get:You can find this blade at Adanabi, a cave of Necromancers
This mighty weapon is one of the strongest swords in the game.
It’s unique, of course, and it’s also known as The Paladin’s Sword.
Just note its enchantment has a total of 5 uses, so be wise on how you spend them. And it restores your health and reflects your enemy’s attacks, very useful!
A fantastic and unique weapon that stands out quite a bit – Morrowind was its last appearance as well!
12. Eltonbrand
How To Get: This weapon is meant to be difficult to obtain. You’ll want to check out the entire process here if you wish to obtain it, as it’s pretty lengthy!
Unlike what its name suggests, the Eltonbrand won’t sing your enemies a song – unless you see death as a song.
This weapon is not only ridiculously strong on its own, but it also has 100 uses to its massive enchantment.
It’s not quite powerful enough of a weapon to be number one on my list, although it is really high up there. But let’s face it – the difficult process you’ve gotta go through just to obtain this is why it’s so low.
11. Skull Crusher
How To Get: There is a chest in the Forge of Hilbongard where you can find the Skull Crusher Amule dmg software.
The Skull Crusher is a powerful hammer that has the Fortify Attack (+5) and the Feather (+15) spells “embedded” into the weapon.
This means you’ll always have those effects applied to you as long as you’re wielding this monstrous hammer.
According to lore in the game, the Skull Crusher is always meant to return to its rightful owner.
It’s one of the most legendary hammers in all of the land. Get it and keep it while you can!
10. Mace of Aevar Stone-Singer
How To Get: Tharsten Heart-Fang will provide you with the Mace as a gift, but you must complete all of the Nerevarine quests of the Ritual of Gifts.
Getting this weapon is a tedious process. But not nearly as tedious as that quest you have to do just for the Eltonbrand hammer.
This mace only has 10 uses, but each one deals an extra 8 points of frost damage.
It has quite a unique appearance as well which is always nice.
And it’s one of the strongest one-handed weapons in the game, dealing the most damage when you slap or chop with it.
Being a blunt weapon, it doesn’t do much with thrust attacks though.
9. Hopesfire
How To Get: Slay the Tribunal god Almalexia
The legendary Hopesfire deals massive damage plus an extra 30 points of shock damage on the first 20 hits that it lands.
It’s the weapon worthy of a god, so be careful about how you use it and how you spend its magical effects.
8. Scourge
How To Get: Visit Tel Fyr, or the Hall of Fyr to be specific. This weapon is located in a chest next to Divayth Fyr.
This legendary weapon used to be the main element used to send Daedra back into Oblivion.
But wielding it in Morrowind will allow you to summon Daedric creatures to fight alongside you.
It also deals devastating damage to your enemies, of course!
7. Ice Blade of the Monarch
How To Get: Slay the sorcerer known as Llaren Terano
As the name suggests, the Ice Blade of the Monarch deals devastating frost damage to your enemies with ease.
It does have low base damage by default, but the weapon proves to be quite useful in most situations where you’re surrounded by mid to low-level foes.
6. Trueflame
How To Get: You must rebuild the sword by completing The Blade of Nerevar
The Trueflame is the twin weapon of the Hopesfire. And with 20 uses, it deals 30 points of area damage to any foe that comes near the wearer.
Once the blade is reignited it will deal some of the highest base damage values in the game.
You will need to finish the quest completely if you want to see its true potential, though.
5. Spear of Bitter Mercy
How To Get: Complete Sheogorath’s quest
If you’re searching for the best spear in the early-game, this might be the one you’re looking for.
It can be obtained quite easily and provides enchanted damage as well as powerful base damage.
You can also summon an Attronach using this legendary spear, which is great in its own right.
4. Sunder
How To Get: Defeat Dagoth Vemyn in Vemynal
The Sunder, also known as a legendary dwarven hammer of divine mass, is one of the strongest hammers you can get(if not the strongest hammer).
With a base value of 400,000 coins, it’s also one of the most expensive items in Morrowind by a mile.
Its enchantments fortify your attack, endurance, luck, and strength, with the only issue that it also drains one point of fatigue.
Chops and slashes are deadly with this weapon. But I do suggest you never to try and thrust anyone with it. It basically deals no damage with thrusts.
3. Ebony Arrows of Slaying (only 5 in the game!)
How To Get: Find this on a small tree stump hidden in Thirsk
These are by far the strongest arrows in the game, dealing a staggering 5000 points of damage to any target.
The problem is that there are only 5 of them in total.
There’s no way for you to craft more, or any way for you to get your hands on an extra set.
It’s understandable, though, as they are so powerful that they can end any foe’s life with a single strike.
Why are they so powerful, you ask?
Well they come pre-enchanted with a special spell that makes them deal those extra 5000 points of damage. Strong and mighty, these are keepers.
The Ebony Arrows of Slaying might be difficult to come by, but they are also the strongest arrows in any TES game to date – including TES Online!
2. Daedric Dai-katana
How To Get: There are chests that contain Daedric Dai-katanas, but the easiest way to find them is by slaying leveled Daedric creatures.
The Daedric Dai-katana is one of the coolest weapons you can get, as well as one of the “easiest” to get when it comes to late-game equipment.
One of the beautiful things about Morrowind is that almost any weapon will serve you well regardless of your level.
But these katanas are, by far, some of the most useful all-rounders.
Chop, slash, or thrust with these magnificent and deadly things – they’ll prove to be almost equally as effective in dealing tremendous damage to your foes.
You might need to kill a few Daedra if you wish to obtain them, though!
1. Fang of Haynekhtnamet
How To Get: The final section of the Sixth House Base holds this sword
This resistant short blade deals shock damage to your foes in addition to already-high base damage.
It’s quite easy to wield and deals a ton of damage for its size, plus its quick speed makes it an even better weapon to carry around.
It might be a stretch to call it the best weapon in the game. But the fact that you can get it so easily earns it the first spot on my list!

The Ice Blade of the Monarch is truly one of Tamriel's most prized artifacts. Legend has it that the Evil Archmage Almion Celmo enchanted the claymore of a great warrior with the soul of a Frost Monarch, a stronger form of the more common Frost Atronach. The warrior, Thurgnarr Assi, was to play a part in the assassination of a great king in a far off land, and become the new leader. The assassination failed and the Archmage was imprisoned.
