The Jacob’s Original Cream Cracker Celebrates Original Malaysians campaign will feature eight inspiring and original Malaysian personalities who are legends in their own fields:
1.Tunku Abdul Rahman – the first Prime Minister of Malaysia who gave Malaysia its independence.
2.Tan Sri P Ramlee – regarded as a national treasure in the local entertainment industry for his contribution to the movie and music industry, and literary works.
3.Datuk Nicol David – the best squash queen who is well known for being the longest reigning world squash champion and for bringing squash to the international arena.
4.Bram Lee – the first Malaysian YouTube star to hit 1,000,000 subscribers, and the original young figure in the field of social media.
5.Farah Ann – an internationally acclaimed gymnastic icon, the first Malaysian personality in her sport.
6.A Chandramalar – also known as the Woman of Steel, she was the first Malaysian trailblazing policewoman to head the Anti-Vice Branch in Penang.
7.Marina Ahmad – the Mount Everest conqueror, she was the first Malaysian woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
8.Yaashwin Sarawanan – the Human Calculator and youngest personality on this list is being celebrated as the first Malaysian to emerge runner-up on ‘Asia’s Got Talent’.

The campaign, which kicked off in August, will end on Malaysia Day (16 September). It will comprise:
a.TV commercial
The 60” and 15” commercial depicts the story of the Original Malaysian icons. It is brought to ‘live’ through the fine craftsmanship that is engraved on Jacob’s Original Cream Cracker. Firstly, every action of the respective icon is sketched out, then carefully and meticulously laser engraved on Original Cream Cracker to capture each frame as a stop motion film. It is featured on both TV and digital platforms.
b.Behind the Scenes Video
A special behind the scenes video was created to capture the making of #TheOriginal 60” TV commercial that was produced over 3 days using Jacob’s Original Cream Cracker. Computer graphics were used for the previsualisation to determine the placement of the cracker, the movement of the camera and timing aspect. Various engraving techniques were tried out for two months, and finally for the shoot, laser engraving was used. This video was further enhanced and supported with comments, the idea, concept and the production of the commercial. The footages will be featured on Jacob’s YouTube channel.
c.Jacob’s Original Cream Cracker With Special Sleeve
At retail level, the Jacob’s Original Cream Cracker are sleeved featuring some of the Original Malaysian icons, namely Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Tan Sri P Ramlee and Datuk Nicol David. These are available on both the tin and the pack.

Consumers will be able to own a personalised cracker souvenir as they select from eight specially crafted Malaysian-themed crackers. They will also be able to witness the engraving process of the personalised cracker. This can be experienced at selected AEON, Tesco, Giant and Mydin retail outlets around the country throughout the campaign duration.

In Ireland, the Jacobs brand name is owned by Valeo Foods – a spokesperson for the company told DailyEdge.ie that the recipe had not been changed.
However, in the UK the Jacobs name is owned by United Biscuits, and it’s entirely possible that those crackers could be the source of the unrest we see here.
