Best Guild Wars 2 Addons

I’ve been playing Guild Wars 2 a lot recently and I thought it might be a good idea to post about some handy “Add-ons” that make the gaming experience a lot better. Going forward, I just want to say that these programs won’t get you banned for the most part. I say “for the most part” because things happen and you never really know for sure, but people have been using these programs for a while and have not been banned thus far.

How to Use These Programs

Most of the programs I am going to feature here require you to set your in-game resolution to “Windowed Fullscreen”. This allows these programs to sit on top of your game, thus they do not in any way interact with the game client, making them safe to use.

Guild Wars 2 Top Five Add-ons In this guide we provide players with the definitive list of Guild Wars 2's best Add-ons. By Lewis Burnell on Feb 02, 2015 Follow Ten Ton Hammer; Overview. It is important that the first thing you know is that ArenaNet in no way supports these Add-ons. I've done my best to ensure it doesn't cause any problems, but there are no guarantees. If you are updating from a 1.x version to a 2.x version, first delete all old ICM-related files in your Guild Wars 2 folder. Unpack the zip file directly into to the Guild Wars 2 game folder.

Combat Mode

Combat mode is one of the coolest overlays for Guild Wars 2 that is available right now. Essentially it runs in the background and when you activate it with a programmable hot-key, the program centers your cursor on your screen, holds down the right click button, and changes your mouse actions (such as left click, right click, scroll up, scroll down) to different buttons (ex. 1, 2, 3, F1, v). This allows you to forget about holding down right click while fighting, freeing up your fingers to activate skills instead. It also creates kind of a cool cross-hair in the middle of your screen so you know where you’re looking.

Overwolf

Overwolf is an overlay that is not specific to Guild Wars, but it comes with a whole mess of apps that make gaming so much better. It sits on the side of your screen and expands when you mouse over it. It is essentially an app hub with transparent windows that are constantly on top of your gaming window. It comes with a chat program, teamspeak support, a web browser, and a number of other applications–not to mention the ones you can download. It is very unobtrusive and definitely helps when you’re trying to run fractals and keep up a skype conversation at the same time.

GW2 Boss Event Overlay

I’ve tried a lot of overlays for boss events and temple timers, and this is by far the best. Put together by Reddit’s Dauni, this timer is very unobtrusive, minimalistic, and informative. This timer–like the many others available on the internet–provides information as to when meta-events start, specifically the ones that provide players with a daily chest. You can position it anywhere on your screen and check events off as you complete them. It even provides detailed information on certain bosses and events, such as how much longer until the Fire Elemental spawns, or which pre-event the Maw is on. You can even choose which events to display if you only want to focus on a few meta events. It is still a little buggy, but count me down as a big fan and an avid user.

WvW Overlay

Also made by Dauni, this overlay provides information as to events in WvW and which caps are currently being captured and by whom. It works a lot like the boss overlay above.

Dungeon Checker

Although this is not an overlay, it deserves to be mentioned here somewhere. Ever been in a dungeon group (specifically CoF) and have had trouble finding an uncontested server? Well fret no more. Check out this website here to find open servers.

Hi everyone,
GuildAfter the multibox update the need for several supported GW2 API keys came up for people who are using multiple accounts. This has been a request for a while from people who do a lot of account hopping as well. This latest update adds multi-API-key support with automatic account detection based on the selected character name so if you have multiple API keys added to the overlay it will always pick the right one and display information regarding to the currently played account. This should be quite useful for dungeon/raid progress tracking on multiple accounts. In order for this to work, the API keys used in TacO need to have the 'characters' permission.Best Guild Wars 2 Addons
API Keys can be added, edited and removed in the TacO menu.
I also found a temporary workaround for the keyboard input issues that have been plaguing the overlay since the beginning, particularly when it comes to textboxes. The API-key input field and the notepad window should be a lot friendlier to use now.Guild wars 2 mods
This update also reintroduces the missing guild races and a bunch of other default markers that went missing during the migration of the codebase to git.
You can download the new build here.

Change notes:

Best Gw2 Addons

  • Fixed TacO eating too much CPU when GW2 not running and TacO set to not close with the game
  • Removed some unused timing code
  • Added support for multiple GW2 API keys, the overlay will automatically pick the first API key corresponding to the current account based on the logged in character's name. API keys require the 'characters' capability for this to work.
  • Fixed a bug where the TP tracker wouldn't display the listing prices of sub 1 silver items correctly
  • Re-added some markers to the archive that have been missing since build 43 (Guild races, a couple adventures, etc) - sorry about this, they went missing during the move from hg to git
  • Tweaked the keyboard input code a bit so that when typing in TacO textboxes GW2 will no longer react to the keypresses
  • Fixed copy and paste not functioning in TacO textboxes
  • Removed a bunch of unnecessary API calls when editing API keys
